Myo - Gesture Control Armband

Another product that is very exciting is the Myo armband produced by Canadian company Thalmic Labs. Myo is a great example of hiding advanced technologies from the user whilst still allowing them to use it. Using muscles in the arm, the Myo band can recognise movements and relate these to a certain gesture allowing you to skip songs, enlarge images and skip slides, someone even managed to connect it to Solidworks.

For just under $200 this may just seem like a very expensive party trick, and I agree, for that kind of money you can get much better flashy gadgets. However the application for this technology can be endless; gaming, movie acting, athletes tracking to name a few. Perhaps 3 or 4 models down the line and the real potential of the Myo band will be unlocked.

For now, a cool gadget that makes you feel that a Sci-Fi universe isn't that far-fetched.
