FINAL CONCEPT

To the left is the persuasive render of the final concept that will be taken forward to the development process. This design was ultimately chosen as it meets the points for the URS very well. Most importantly it is a fun, sociable way that elderly people can improve the leg muscle strength. The movement that is needed to push the pedals is similar to that seen on the downward phase of a cycling revelation and also a leg press machine. Both of these movement use leg muscles exclusively, particularly vastus medialis and thefore will build muscle strength. The feedback from this concept was always vrey positive; even the constructive feedback was never truly negative, just tweaks that would enhance the experience of the product.
Overall this concept is a very unique and enjoyable way for users to improve leg muscles. With no rival products similar to this, it has a very good chance to succeed in a cramped market.
ISSUES TO TAKE FORWARD
- Will there be a battery in use or will it draw power from the mains?
- Exact ergonomic size of each pedal is still unknown
- How will each pedal sync with one another?
- What force (Newtons) will be needed to operate pedal?
